Weekend project . . . fall leaves and beeswax

My girls have been loving the gorgeous leaves, and collect them at every opportunity.  This batch is from my Grandma’s house, and we thought it would be fun to preserve them and mail them on down to our autumn deprived family in California.  There are photos of beeswax dipped leaves floating around on pinterest that I’ve been dying to try.  It was even easier than it looks (and less messy!).  Collect the leaves on a sunny day, leave them pressed until you have a rainy one.  There’s really nothing better than the smell of melting beeswax on a rainy day.

*In case you’re wondering what’s on her head:  they’re pants.  Pants that look just like bunny ears, in her opinion.  She told me:  “I want people to look at me and think that they’re looking at a beautiful bunny.”

I used to use roses (buds are nice too) and dip them in paraffin wax to preserve them but I think bees wax would smell much nicer.
