My First Book!

This Wednesday I held my very first book, Fine Foliage. As tears steamed down my face I felt so much gratitude and accomplishment remembering how Karen,  Christina, and I worked tirelessly creating this book.

This project began 4 years ago when Karen asked me to collaborate with her on a garden book. I had never photographed gardens other than a tree fine art series. I have learned so much about the world of gardening and why combinations of plants look so good together. Karen has been my teacher, friend, and cheerleader in this process. Our original idea for the book morphed into something different 2 years ago when Christina and Karen came up with a new concept that was met with excitement by St Lynn’s Press. The ball just rolled from there and here. Getting to know Christina has been such a fun adventure and she continues to entertain me with her energy and passion for gardens. I feel so blessed to have a published book and I’m hoping to crank out a few more of my own in the coming years.

I have spent the last two days pouring over it and snapping pictures here and there of a few of my favorite images. I want you to buy the book so I’m not giving too much away ; ).

I love the layout of this book. It’s so user friendly and easy to understand.

These next two images are from my Mom’s garden and are very near and dear to my heart. I have seen first hand the love and attention that a gardener pours into their space. I hope to be like her some day and create magic where there was previously just dirt. Also I have to mention that my super talented husband Luke made the rock stack sculpture in the background. : )

I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I do. The feedback thus far has been so incredible. I’m blushing and feeling all choked up that people love our baby.

Check out Fine-foliage.com for more gardening inspiration and to see some really beautiful photos taken by Karen and Christina too. They, in their own right are also very talented photographers.

Cheers!

It has been a wonderful adventure together and seeing and hearing the excitement and enthusiasm with which the book is being met within both the writing and gardening communities is thrilling. However the first comment is ALWAYS ” it’s such a beautiful book” – which is thanks of course to you.x
