Dancing in the moonlight

My daughter was up on stage today singing christmas songs complete with robust arm choreography, and I wasn’t there to see it. I was on the floor playing trains with Finn, completely unaware that such magic was happening 4 blocks away. I was lucky enough to have two friends in the audience of 15 parents (clearly many of us didn’t get the memo), who gave me the full picture of how she did. She sang her heart out. She even added choreography from her previous preschools performance to this one because I’m sure in her mind, that is the way it was supposed to be done. It’s one of those moments in life that makes your heart sink as you wonder how you could have missed the email announcing that event. In the true form of Matilda Jane, a magical package arrived on a day that could use some cheering and she danced in the moonlight. Lilly actually shrills with delight when she opens the packages. I have to say it’s one of the perks of Lilly being my daughter. She gets all all giddy over ruffles, fabric, patterns and she makes me smile in her genuine love for it all. She also only wears soft clothes, so thank goodness these are both soft and cute.
