Make em laugh…

Today has been the best day. I woke up at 6:45am with Finn, made coffee and changed a super stinky diaper. Yes, dreams really do come true on Mother’s Day. (this is not the good part in case you are wondering). Lilly then woke up and started to play with us. I could barely keep my eyes open and I was stumbling around like a drunk. Most likely due to the fact that I had run a 5k the day before and stayed up late to watch Tina Fey host SNL, this combination was going to be the end of me today I was sure of it. But then a mother’s day miracle happened. I crawled back into bed with Luke while our children bounced around us causing us to groan intermittently with their knobby parts jutting into us. I thought to myself  “today is going to be a long day”. But then Luke got up, took the kids out of the room and I feel asleep so fast it was crazy. I then woke up at 10:30!!! BEST MOTHER’S DAY EVER!!!! I actually felt rested, maybe for the first time in 5 years. I drank my cup of coffee, bouncing a very sleepy Finn on my hip and then went back to bed to put Finn to bed for his morning nap. I read my new book “bossypants” by Tina Fey for about 30 minutes till Finn was out cold. I then got up and ate a giant cinnamon roll and another cup of coffee. I made a foam mosaic with Lilly and played dolls with her. I then opened my mothers day card from Luke and it melted my heart. What is the point exactly of me sharing all of this with you you might be asking. Well partly it’s to brag about my awesome morning, and then secondly to talk about my gift which was given to me a few days earlier.

Luke works for a very small non-profit called NW Art Alliance and just this month they took over putting on the Art in occidental park in Pioneer square. It was coincidently our anniversary so we were so happy to be out and looking at art. The first this he said was, “I found a tiny narwal and I need it”, to this I responded “of course you do! show me!!” He then lead me down the isle of beautiful art to a booth called “deviant decor”. ( I immediately thought: This woman is a genius and i need one too. We knew the Narwal one was Luke’s but then I took forever picking out mine. It was so hard to choose. I finally settled on the puffer fish. I choose him because I knew he would make me laugh/smile every time I looked at him. It is a reminder to me to not take myself or my life too seriously. To laugh at myself often and to have fun.

Try not to be jealous of my textured walls. I know we all can’t be so lucky. Sorry.

I only wish I had thought of this first. So brilliant!

Here is my chipped tooth, far sighted, pig nosed, funny 3 year old. She makes me laugh every day and I’m greatful to her. I hope you laugh, read a funny book and take a nap today.
