The weekly read . . .

The girls have an aunt traveling across Africa right now, so Mama Panya’s Pancakes is in heavy rotation.  I like books that expose us to different places and cultures, and the girls love the idea of inviting everyone they’ve ever met over for dinner, and wondering if their aunt is eating spicy pancakes.  This book includes a recipe for those spicy pancakes at the end, but my girls prefer the inauthentic recipe above . . .

In other “reading” news . . .

* This woman is going on a year long spending fast. I love that idea!  You know . . . for her.

*Pinterest is the most fun I’ve had online . . . maybe ever.

* If you’ve already discovered Heidi Swanson’s cookbooks, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me about them.

* She cleans her house once a month. I’m thinking about it . . .

What are you reading this weekend?

Just requested Heidi’s books from the library. I’m happy to see she has a vegetarian title among them (I like veggie cuisine). I also love the idea of deep cleaning once a month in order to superficially clean the rest of the time. I’m printing out that list she has on the blog post. Thanks Angie!

ooops… I have been obsessed with Heidi’s blog 101cookbooks for a few years… and I looooove her cookbooks. I love her photos and the food is so easy and adaptable. I feel like a bad friend for not letting you in on the genius…
